Mauser 98 Scope Mount Instructions
Part #MSM1700.

Mount will NOT fit small ring Mausers (Spanish M1916 .308s) or Large-Ring Swedish M38/M96 6.5x55mm.

Fits large ring 7MM or 8MM Mausers with standard BENT bolt. Partial list include German K-98, Czech VZ-24, Yugo 24/47, Yugo 48/48A, and Turkish 1903/ 1937/ 1938/ 1946, etc...

VERY IMPORTANT: Straight bolt or Wide-arc bolt Mausers must convert to BENT using the Mauser Bolt Handle to allow use of a scope.

A wide-arc bolt measures greater than 1.25" from the flat surface of the stock to the top of the bolt handle.

STEP 1 Determine if the Advanced Technology Bolt Handle conversion is necessary. Install now, if needed. Straight-bolt and "Wide-arc" bolts must convert to bent bolt with Mauser Bolt Handle to use a scope. Part#MBH-1800.

STEP 2 Remove the barreled action and the trigger guard/magazine from the stock. GRAY area indicates stock relief modification.

STEP 3 Refer to Figure 1, remove the wood in the area shown to create a relief for the barrel/scope rail clamp. (1-1/4 WIDE x 1-3/4 LONG x 1-1/16 DEEP).

CAUTION: Measure carefully to prevent puncturing stock while removing material. Use included clamps as a guide.

STEP 4 Refer to Figure 2, place Clamps on barrel between receiver and rear sight as shown with circular relief towards the receiver. Note: On some Mausers it may be necessary to remove the rear sight. Tighten the (2) 10-32x 1/2 SHCS in the counterbored holes at the top and place the (2) 10-32 x 3/4 SHCS in the bottom holes but do not tighten. Place the Scope Rail over the Clamp and tighten the (4) 8-32 x 1/2 SHCS as shown in Figure 2. Move the Scope Rail and Clamp forward or back for proper alignment. Make sure that the Scope Rail does not interfere with the bolt.

(SHCS = "Socket Head Cap Screw").

STEP 5 Place barreled action with the Scope Rail and Clamp back into the modified stock. Then check for fit and alignment. Align the clamp to the side of the stock by slightly rotating. Once proper alignment has been achieved, remove barreled action from stock and tighten the bottom (2) 10-32 x 3/4 SHCS.

STEP 6 Re-assemble the Mauser. Refer to figure 2 and place the 10-32 x 3/4 set screw in the rear hole as shown. Lightly snug up against the rear of the receiver. Finally, install scope & rings.
